Education:
Dr. Lickteig played basketball at Washburn University and then graduated from KU School of Medicine in Wichita.
Residency:
He completed a family medicine residency and sports medicine fellowship at Ascension Via Christi in Wichita. During his fellowship, he cared for active community individuals and was part of the care team for student-athletes at Wichita State University and Newman University.

Biography:
Dr. Lickteig is a board-certified primary care sports medicine physician dedicated to helping patients of all ages stay active, healthy, and injury-free. With a background in both primary care and sports medicine, Dr. Lickteig takes a comprehensive, patient-centered approach—focusing not only on treating injuries, but also on optimizing performance, preventing future problems, and supporting long-term wellness. He is able to see the entire picture of your health with his background.
Dr. Lickteig cares for a wide range of patients, from competitive athletes to active individuals to those who cannot walk on their own. He sees patients of all ages and abilities.

Originally from Wichita, and now lives on a small farm in Kingman County.
Hobbies:
Dr. Lickteig enjoys hunting, watching and playing sports, and spending time with his wife and 4 kids.
Why do you choose to work in rural healthcare?:
“Since choosing medicine as a career, I knew that I wanted to practice at a place where I could see patients in the ER, hospital, on the sideline, and in the clinic. I knew that a smaller community was the best and only way that I could do this. I also love the idea of knowing people and doing important work in a community rather than being lost in the shuffle of a huge city or organization.”
