Senior Life Solutions at Kingman Healthcare Center
Aging brings many joys, including more time with family and freedom in retirement, but it can also involve difficult life transitions, the loss of loved ones, changes in living situations, and stress from age-related health concerns.
Kingman Healthcare Center’s Senior Life Solutions Program is an intensive outpatient group therapy program designed to meet the unique needs of individuals, typically 65 and older, experiencing depression or anxiety related to life changes often associated with aging. The program staff includes a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed therapists, a registered nurse, and other professionals dedicated to improving the mental health of older adults in the community.
How Senior Life Solutions Program Helps Older Adults
Our program helps seniors develop the coping and communication skills needed to live happier and healthier lives. Services offered by Kingman Healthcare Center’s Senior Life Solutions include a confidential, comprehensive assessment, group and individual therapy, family therapy, medication education and management, and after-care planning where we continue to engage and support our participants. Even though this is a group setting, each person is addressed individually based on their unique needs. Patients attend up to three group therapy sessions per week.

Mental Health Support for Older Adults in Kingman County
Feeling down every once in a while is a normal part of life, but if these feelings last a few weeks or months, you may be dealing with something more serious. Mental health is just as important in older adulthood as it is at any other stage of life. As people age, they may face challenges such as isolation, chronic illness, grief, and changes in independence—all of which can significantly impact emotional well-being. Supporting the mental health of older adults not only improves quality of life, but it also contributes to better physical health outcomes, reduced hospitalizations, and a greater sense of connection and purpose. Prioritizing mental health in this population helps ensure that aging is not just about adding years to life, but life to years.
Anyone can make a referral to the program. This includes self, family members, physicians, or other healthcare professionals.

Help for Seniors Facing a Mental Health Crisis
Aging adults often face a myriad of challenges, ranging from the emotional toll of bereavement or financial strain following retirement to the pervasive issue of ageism, which undermines their contributions to society and can detrimentally impact their mental well-being. Moreover, the prevalence of social isolation and loneliness among older demographics, affecting approximately a quarter of this population, poses significant risks to their mental health.
Additionally, many older individuals find themselves shouldering the responsibilities of caring for spouses with chronic health conditions like dementia, a duty that can take a heavy toll on their mental health due to its demanding nature.
Furthermore, certain segments of the elderly population are particularly vulnerable to depression and anxiety due to adverse living conditions, poor physical health, or limited access to adequate support and services. This includes older adults grappling with chronic illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, or stroke, individuals contending with neurological conditions like dementia, as well as those struggling with substance use disorders.
Kingman Healthcare Center's Senior Life Solutions program presents a solution in the Kingman community. We use evidence-based treatment to help older adults develop coping and communication skills to better manage symptoms of a mental health condition.
